As India lags behind in the second wave of COVID-19 and the variables reach various states, there have been reports of reinfection. Some people who were vaccinated against COVID-19 in India were later diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus.
The Government of India's Press Information Bureau (PIB) took to Twitter on Saturday to clarify the controversy on this issue. According to the government, yes, people can get COVID-19 even after they have been vaccinated. However, a very small percentage of people develop COVID-19 after vaccination. The government said that even after they tested positive for COVID-19, they had mild symptoms.
"Vaccination is essential to prevent COVID-19. Only 0.03% -0.04% of people have contracted COVID-19 after vaccination and even have mild symptoms," said the PIB.
"The vaccine will not allow the virus to multiply and will not allow the disease to get worse," the government added.
It added: "But during that time, your RT-PCR test can be positive and can be contagious to others, so it is important to follow appropriate behavior for COVID-19 even after vaccination."
In an article on the side effects of COVID-19, the World Health Organization (WHO) wrote: “There have been concerns about COVID-19 vaccines making people sick with COVID-19. But none of the approved vaccines contain the live virus that causes COVID-19, which means that COVID-19 vaccines cannot make you sick with the COVID-19 virus.
"After vaccination, it usually takes a few weeks for the body to develop immunity against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Therefore, it is possible that a person had just SARS-CoV-2 before or after vaccination. and keep getting sick. This is because the vaccine has not had enough time to provide protection, "said the WHO.
