Indian Railways ticket reservation rule to change from today. Check details

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, instructions have been issued to change the preparation time of the second reservation scheme to two hours before the scheduled

Indian Railways in a bid to provide relief to passengers has decided to prepare reservation charts 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of trains from stations starting from today.

Earlier, the system was modified to two hours in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic for the last few months.

In a statement, Indian Railways said that, in accordance with specific pre-COVID-19 instructions, the first booking scheme has been prepared at least four hours before the train's scheduled departure. After this, available accommodations can be reserved through the PRS counters, as well as online on a first-come, first-served basis until second-booking schemes are prepared.

Second booking plans are prepared between 30 minutes and 5 minutes before scheduled/rescheduled train departures. Tickets already booked during this period could be canceled in accordance with the provisions of the refund rules.

"Consequently, ticketing facilities, either online or at PRS ticket counters, will be available, prior to the development of Table II. CRIS will make the necessary program adjustments accordingly to restore this provision to as of October 10, "the statement said.

The railways have suspended all passenger train services due to a national blockade imposed as of March 25. However, services have been resumed in a phased manner starting with private Shramik trains to help stranded migrant workers reach their home states from May 1.
