Google Home and Google Home Mini smart speakers are set to launch in India from the 10th April 2018. The announcement was made last month from a communication circulated by a Google distribution partner-Redington India to the retailers that these two new devices will launch in April. Google also teased the arrival of the Google Home and Google Home Mini through its Twitter account. Flipkart has listed the devices on its portal revealing the features. On the other hand, Google Home Mini is similar to the Amazon Echo Dot which is meant to be used in more rooms. It will make the services of Google Assistant available to more people in a single household. The affordable speaker was launched in last October.

With the India launch coming only a few months after the launch of Amazon’s smart speakers-Echo, Echo Plus and Echo Dot, Google has plans to unseat its rival in the race to bringing connected devices to users’ homes. Home’s intelligence is powered by Google Assistant while Amazon’s Echo line of speakers are powered by Alexa voice assistant. E-commerce portal Flipkart has listed out some of the features of the Google Home and Home Mini which state that the device makes it easier to play music, control smart hone, cast videos, and get news updates and more. You can only register via the Flipkart app to get more updates on the launch. Google Home buyers will be able to interact with the device by setting it up through a voice recognition technology. After the speaker is attuned to the user’s voice, it will be able to pick up commands. Apart from playing music on request, the device will also help the users manage tasks around the house and answer queries that one would look for in a search engine. It comes with interchangeable bases available in a wide variety of colors.

Google Home is priced at $128 in the US, which is about INR 8,400 and Google Home Mini is available for $49 which is INR 3,200. It is still not clear whether the devices will be available only on Flipkart of through other online and offline stores as well.
