Announcing the establishment of a 'Startup Bridge' between India and Italy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that both countries had placed special emphasis on increasing cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, information technology, semiconductors , telecommunications and aerospace.

At a news conference with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held at Hyderabad House, Prime Minister Modi made the comments.

Noting that India and Italy are celebrating the 75th anniversary of their bilateral relations this year, Prime Minister Modi also said that "we have decided to confer strategic partnership status on the Indo-Italian partnership" on the occasion.

“We have placed emphasis on further strengthening our economic ties,” PM Modi said, adding that our “Made in India” and “Self-Reliance in India” campaigns are opening up massive investment opportunities in India.”

India has been emphasising that conversation and diplomacy are the only ways to settle the conflict in Ukraine ever since it started. India is ready and willing to support any peace effort. On this occasion, the Prime Minister referred to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and said that India is fully ready to contribute to any peace process.

He also welcomed Italy's active participation in the Indo-Pacific region, saying that this step will help identify concrete issues to enhance our cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

On her visit to India, Meloni is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajan and a high-level business delegation.
