WhatsApp has launched a new feature that will help users manage their storage well. On Tuesday, the messaging app announced a new feature that allows users to delete bulk items and free up space. WhatsApp is rumored to be working on this feature for quite some time and has finally made it official for users.

Announcing the new feature on Twitter, WhatsApp tweeted from its official identifier. "We've made it easy to review and mass delete items and free up some space. This new storage management tool can be found in Settings- Storage & Data- Storage Management." WhatsApp also shared a video of how the feature will work.

In the video, it can be seen that the user is notified with the "Storage almost full" banner at the top of their chat window when they reach the limit. If you tap the full storage full banner, you will be directed to the Manage storage section. The Manage screen will display the media that have used the amount of space and other types of content.

Here's how you can use the function

Open your app and go to settings

- Go to manage storage and data

Then tap Manage storage

Users will also get separate partitions showing the space occupied by forwarded messages and files larger than 5MB. This will make it easier for users to get rid of unnecessary things. WhatsApp will also show the amount of space that each conversation occupies in the contact list.

Users can free up space on files, media, and even messages by clicking the Select All option.

However, the user must remember that the media they are deleting from their app would remain on their phones. This feature only helps to clean the app store and not the phone. So if there is something you want to remove from your phone, you will have to do it manually. WhatsApp will start rolling out this feature for Android and iOS users.

"We now offer easy cleanup suggestions by bucketing large files and redirected media multiple times, sorting files by size in descending order, and providing a way to preview files before deleting. You can also preview the media before of selecting one or more items to delete. The new storage management tools will roll out to users around the world this week, and WhatsApp said in a statement that when available, users can navigate to the new tool by going to Settings- Storage and data- Storage management.
