The final decision to involve Jio in the project was made at a cabinet meeting. The state government is also establishing a deep water port near the proposed site for the Digha landing station as per the latest Jio News.

Subsea cables provide important global communication links between nations, and these cable systems generally terminate in one country through landing stations.

Industry experts expect a rapid transformation of the West Bengal’s IT and ITeS sectors once the Jio cable landing station is operational. A stronger broadband connection is also envisioned to boost national tourism and job creation prospects in the state, give a boost to the local economy, and ultimately raise living standards.
