New Delhi: On August 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the platform "Tax Transparency - Honoring the Honest", that rolled out a faceless assessment, appeal, and rights' charter for taxpayers.

While faceless appraisal and taxpayer charter are in effect as of August 13, an anonymous appeals service will be available as of September 25. The new platform aims to increase the trust of taxpayers and make them brave.

Know all about the Faceless assessment, taxpayers' charter, and faceless appeal service.

Faceless scrutiny assessment

The faceless scrutiny assessment is designed to provide greater transparency, efficiency, and accountability. The scheme aims to eliminate the interaction between taxpayers and tax officials. Taxpayers will not have to go to the income tax office in person. They sit at home, they can place the order, and the tax officials will analyze it in a random system using data analysis and artificial intelligence. In the previous system, a person who paid income tax was supposed to go to an official from the same territorial jurisdiction of the taxpayer. But now, the algorithm decides where to go for the evaluation that generates anonymity.

Taxpayers’ Charter

With the objective of enhancing the efficiency of the delivery system for managing income tax, the government amended the provisions of the Income Tax Law to authorize the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to adopt a Taxpayers’ Charter. The charter takes care of maintaining the dignity and sensitivity of the taxpayer, based on the trust factor and that it is not possible simply to doubt the estimator without foundation.

Faceless appeal

In order to eliminate the human interface, the Faceless appeal on the lines of Faceless assessment will be followed. This is intended to make the evaluation process more efficient, transparent, and accountable.
