Jeff Bezos's wealth has shot up so much since the beginning of this year that he is now richer than Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

As of this time, Jeff Bezos's net worth is estimated at $ 140 billion, while Zuckerberg is worth $ 70 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Jeff Bezos is one of the few billionaires who has seen his wealth increase since the outbreak Coronavirus pandemic. Amazon CEO has seen his wealth increase by $ 25 billion since the beginning of this year, making him the richest person in the world and placing him on $ 35 billion ahead of the second-most richest billionaire, Bill Gates.

Mark Zuckerberg is ranked as the 5th richest person on the index and has seen a drop of $ 8.4 billion on his net worth since the beginning of 2020.

The massive increase in Bezos's wealth is likely due to the huge increase in demand that Amazon has experienced as lockdown and stay at home force consumers into their homes.

Reports suggest that Amazon is coping with similar demand comparable to its usual peak holiday season.

Workers in the United States and Europe have protested the company's safety measures as inadequate as coronavirus has spread inside its warehouses.

In France, a court order stating that the company only ships the essentials items until It brings its safety practices up to cod led Amazon to close all of its warehouses until at least May 5.

Amazon was also criticized this week by Senator Josh Hawley, who called for an antitrust investigation into whether the company was using data from third-party sellers to give its own brand name items an unfair advantage.
