Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales is contemplating to launch Wikitribune – a news service that combines the work of volunteers and professional journalists, and also to combat the spread of fake news. The news website has been named Wikitribune and would be funded by donations. The supporters will be asked to donate £10-15 each month to pay for a team of journalists to formulate ‘neutral and factual’ stories. The service will also depend on supporters’ regular donations and is intended to be advertisement free.
