The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Sanjeev Sanyal, noted economist and former managing director and global strategist at Deutsche Bank, as the principal economic adviser in the department of economic affairs in the finance ministry. Sanyal is likely to serve as the second in command in the economic division of the finance ministry currently led by the chief economic adviser in the finance ministry Arvind Subramanian. Subramanian’s three-year term expires in October this year.
