Blinkit inaugurates its first 'Silent Store' in Delhi

Online grocery store, Blinkit, has announced the launch of its first 'silent' store located in Laxmi Nagar, East Delhi. This store is special because it is run by 20 people with special abilities who cannot hear or speak. The move is the startup's effort to make its systems more "inclusive and accessible."

"Each one of them understands what our collective mission is and is exemplary in delivering it. This first-of-its-kind effort in our ecosystem is an effort to open greater avenues of employment for a particularly empowered community," the company said in a blog post. Tuesday Albinder Dhindsa, on Twitter.

The company partnered with the Dr Reddy's Foundation and the Sarthak Educational Trust to launch this silent shop. The e-store also added that the Laxmi Nagar store inspired her to look for more such opportunities by considering people who display talent in different ways.

"The Laxmi Nagar store reminds us that there is always room to be inclusive and the sheer passion, vitality, and interest of the hearing impaired,” the blog read.

Currently, Blinkit, formerly known as Grofers, has more than 400 stores in 25 cities in India.
