The United Nations on Wednesday said India is forecast to grow 6.4 percent in 2022, significantly below the 8.8 percent growth in 2021, as greater inflationary pressures and uneven recovery of the labour market are likely to restrict private consumption and investment.

It stated the global economy will increase 3.1 percent in 2022, down from 4 percent in January, due to a broad-based deterioration of growth prospects, including the United States, the European Union, China, and the majority of emerging countries.

Global inflation is expected to grow to 6.7 percent in 2022, twice the average of 2.9 percent between 2010 and 2020, according to the United Nations' Department of Economic and Social Affairs' World Economic Situation and Prospects report as of mid-2022.
