If a traffic cop pulls you over while you're driving, the first thing they'll do is check your vehicle's documentation and your driver's licence, even if you haven't done anything wrong. You will be issued a challan if you do not have any of the required documents - registration certificate, PUC certificate, driver's licence, or valid motor insurance. For just forgetting to bring the documents, a fine of Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 may be imposed.
There is, however, a way out.
Motorists can store soft copies of their vehicle's paperwork in the DigiLocker and mParivahan apps, according to Ministry of Road Transport rules. Users can either download the information or show it to officers during a check on the app. Soft copies should be treated equally to hard copies, according to traffic cops.
Advantages of the Digi Locker app
All of your documents are safe with the Digi Locker app. You can simply show up with your smartphone during the checkpoint and avoid a traffic ticket.
You may keep your papers online using the Digi Locker software. While you can keep hard copies of your documents safe at home, you may store soft copies in the applications mentioned above, which is far more convenient.
