Movie theaters will have to perform thermal checks, make face masks mandatory, ensure frequent sanitization, and encourage contactless transactions, while the government has allowed the theaters to function 100%.

Rooms will remain closed in containment zones and states / Union Territories may consider additional measures based on the field assessment, based on guidelines released on Sunday.

Movie theaters are fully functional. Prakash Javadekar Media and Broadcasting Union told the union that sanitization and COVID protocols must be adhered to, but that people can buy food from stands inside cinemas.

The guidelines called for promoting contactless digital transactions for the payment of tickets, food, and beverages. There must be a sufficient number of box office counters open and tickets purchased at the box office must be open all day and advance bookings will be allowed to prevent the counters from getting crowded up as directed.

Wearing face masks, the social distancing of at least 6 feet outside of auditoriums, public areas, and common areas at all times, prohibition of spitting, and encouragement of the use of the Aarogya Setu app are essential according to the guidelines. Thermal inspection should be done in a staggered manner to avoid crowding, as stated in the guidelines.
