NEW DELHI: Myntra, an online fashion and lifestyle store owned by Flipkart, has hired 5,000 employees across the supply chain and customer care departments, as it kicks off the 12th edition of its "End of Season Sale" from June 19 to June 22.

This will be the first time that some Myntra employees will work from home during the sale.

“There are a lot of firsts to this sale, one of which is that most of it is being run virtually, and secondly, we hired the additional workforce one week before instead of the day prior to the sale like in pre-COVID years,” said Amar Nagaram, Myntra CEO.

He said that even when many migrant workers left the cities as the lockdown started, the company retained its fleet staff by providing them with necessities. This time, another difference will be the " recharge leave": two-day off for all employees after wrapping up the sale.

“We understand that these times are difficult for those who come to work at the fulfillment centers and even those who are working from home. This is a first-of-its-kind leave to ensure the rejuvenation of employees," said Nagaram.

To motivate employees at fulfillment centers, Myntra organized a virtual town hall and gig by the band Lagori with a kick-off in a virtual 3D environment.

The company has created virtual war rooms to ensure the employees work during the sale. It has created a central board room where anyone from the leadership, revenue, marketing, business, technology, and product teams can raise concerns.

Online yoga and meditation sessions have been held for teams every morning since the lockdown started."We are concerned about the mental health of our employees, especially with the WFH arrangements," said Nagaram

Myntra will send email reminders throughout the day to their employees and urge them to take a break. The email will also contain GIFs of breathing exercises. More than 1,000 employees will work remotely and will be available 24/7. Wi-Fi dongles were delivered to employees to ensure they stay connected.
