Following RIL market-cap; Mukesh Ambani becomes world's 12th richest man

NEW DELHI: Billionaire Mukesh Ambani became the world's Twelfth-richest man on Wednesday after the strong performance of Reliance Industries group of companies by NSE -1.18% on Dalal Street. With an increase of 40 per cent so far this year, the oil & telecom giant is about to become the first Indian company to reach a market value of Rs.10 crore

When the stock reached an all-time high of Rs.1,571.85 on the Bahrain Stock Exchange, the company's market capitalization was over Rs.9.96 crore in morning trading.






The Billionaire Bloomberg index showed that Bill Gates was the richest man with a total value of $ 110 billion. It was followed by Jeff Bezos ($ 109 billion), Bernard Arnaud ($ 101 billion), Warren Buffett ($ 86.40 billion) and Mark Zuckerberg ($ 74.10 billion).

So far this year, Mukesh Ambani's wealth has increased by $ 13.70 billion to $ 58 billion. With a total net of $ 61.50 billion, Julia Flesher Koch is currently ranked 10th, according to the billionaire Bloomberg Index.

Azim Premji, former chairman of WiproNSE -0.46%, is the second richest Indian on the list with a combined wealth of $ 19.1 billion. Premji added $ 1.75 billion to its net worth this year.

Premji Shiv Nadar of HCL ($ 15.6 billion), Adi Kotak of Kotak Mahindra Bank followed NSE -0.59% ($ 14.2 billion), Laksmi Mittal of ArcelorMittal ($ 12.7 billion) among the top five. Mittal has lost more than $ 1 billion this year.
