Air India to have ‘Maharaja’ class seats on International flights

Passengers traveling to International destinations on Air India are set for a new experience as the airline will soon introduce the ‘Maharaja’ business class seats with a range of cuisines and new uniforms for the crew.

The revamped products will be unveiled on 22 June which is an eventful week since the government decided to put the breaks on the disinvestment plans for now. The riling will launch a revamped Maharaja business class. The current first class and business class seats on the Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft fleet will be revamped for Maharaja business class seats. Both the aircrafts operate long haul and short haul international routes.-

This makeover exercise will involve overhauling of a section of the first class and business class with an upgraded ambience, upholstery and a range of new features. Additionally, the night kits will also carry a new look. The objective is to bring about a much needed change in the airline and make it more customer focused with excellent service. This move is also a part of larger efforts to attract more passengers on the international flights and to generate more revenues as well as gain a higher market share.

Currently Air India has 17 percent market share on international routes and has more than 2,500 international prime time slots every week which are spread across 43 overseas destinations. The cabin crew flying overseas will be sporting new uniform with a subtle western touch. The new products and services will be unveiled by Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu and his deputy Jayant Sinha. Prabhu stated that the government is committed to the strategic disinvestment of Air India and a plan is being prepared to run the airline efficiently. Air India has an important role to play in the aviation sector and to keep it healthy and efficient is a priority for the government.
