Minister of State for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA), Rao Inderjit Singh, in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on February 8, 2017, said that the ministry has received representation from consumer groups, complaining that some states have reportedly diluted key provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act to favour builders. To put a check on this, he said that “The rules that have been notified by the states, have been forwarded to the Committee on Subordinate Legislation of the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha, for examination."
