Google has officially launched 'AI Mode' in Search for users across India, marking a significant upgrade to the search experience. Following months of testing through Search Labs, the feature is now available to all English-language users in the country.

Announced by Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai via a post on X (formerly Twitter), the rollout is described as a "total reimagining of Search". The feature introduces generative AI to standard Google searches, offering direct answers, summarised insights, and tools for exploring complex topics.

Key Features of Google AI Mode in Search:

Where Youll See AI Mode

Indian users will find a dedicated 'AI Mode' tab within the Google Search interface, both in the browser and on the Google app. In this tab, queries are answered using generative AI models trained to summarise content and present concise responses.

Google confirmed that the rollout will initially support only English-language queries. Support for Indian languages is expected to follow.

Use Cases Emerging Among Indian Users

According to Googles blog post by Hema Budaraju, VP of Product Management for Search, users in India have already begun adopting AI Mode for a wide range of needs:

Is AI Mode Always Accurate?

Google has issued a caution that while AI Mode is designed to provide quick and helpful responses, it may not always be accurate. Users are encouraged to verify important information, especially for medical, financial, or legal topics. Google has added a feedback option to improve results over time.

"This technology is still evolving, and we welcome user feedback to help refine it," Budaraju said.

Whats Next for AI Mode in India

Google has indicated that broader language support and new features may be added in future updates, depending on user feedback and regional needs. The company aims to ensure that AI Mode remains accessible and useful across Indias diverse internet population.

Try AI Mode Now

Users interested in testing out AI Mode can simply open Google Search or the app, enter a query, and look for the AI-generated summary at the top. Alternatively, access it viaSearch Labs for more options.

Key Takeaway: With its public rollout, Googles AI Mode is set to change how Indian users interact with Search offering smarter, faster, and more context-aware answers. As the company expands language and feature support, AI Mode could soon become the new standard in search experiences.
