Six Celebrities Who Have Invested In Sustainability Startups

Environmental problems have been looming over us for a long time. In recent years, the world has reached a tipping point and we need to take immediate corrective action right from the grassroots level.

Climate change, waste management, different types of pollution, shortage of water, etc, the list of problems is long. While it is imperative that we all contribute towards remedying these issues, many celebrities have already embarked on this path by supporting several sustainability and other startups working to address environmental issues.

Here are six individuals who have invested in such startups.

1. Dia Mirza- Beco

Beco is a Mumbai-based direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand that manufactures eco-friendly and cost-effective products like degradable garbage bags, bamboo toothpicks, and even earbuds.

A true eco-warrior, Dia Mirza was one of his first clients and in addition to promoting the brand, he invested in the startup along with other investors like Amir Khan, Rohit Sharma, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ranbir Kapoor.

2. Alia Bhatt - Phool.co

Bollywood's leading lady Alia Bhatt has invested in Phool.co, a D2C startup.

Phool.co collects floral waste from temples and mosques and turns it into premium carbon-free incense sticks, patented organic fertilizer, and other health products.



3. Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli - The Blue Tribe

The power couple is known to be serial investors and has backed several homegrown startups.

One notable investment is Blue Tribe, a plant-based meat startup that offers products like frozen minced chicken, chicken nuggets, keema, sausages, and momos.

Although these products are plant-based, they exhibit characteristics such as taste, look, feel, and cooking just like meat.

4. Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh

The gorgeous Bollywood couple Genelia and Ritesh Deshmukh launched Imagine Meats, a plant-based meat brand in 2020.

After switching to veganism, the couple decided to create a world that makes healthier, more conscious eating choices. Imagine Meat is their brainchild and offers cruelty-free meat.

Meat and meat-based products such as biryani, kebabs, nuggets, sausages, etc.

5. Shilpa Shetty Kundra

Shilpa Shetty has invested in several startups. One of her startups catering to environmental concerns is the Indian skincare brand Mamaearth.

Mama Earth claims to plant trees for every order she receives. They plan to plant one million trees by 2025.

6. Deepika Padukone- Atomberg and BlueSmart

Actress Deepika Padukone, another prominent investor in startups, has invested in energy-efficient startup Atomberg Technologies, a manufacturer of smart and energy-efficient household appliances. She is also an investor in BluSmart, an e-mobility startup.
