DocsApp shuts down, merges with parent MediBuddy

Healthcare platform MediBuddy said on Dec. 6, it would shut down online medical advice brand DocsApp and fully merge it with the company at a time when a recurring winter of funding is forcing Indian startups to restructure and revamp their businesses and strategies to survive.

The merger was first announced in June 2020, in a cash and stock deal. At the time, the company said the two brands agreed to continue to operate independently.

In today's statement, MediBuddy said it will ease the transition of all DocsApp subscribers to its platform. Bengaluru-based startup DocsApp was founded by IITians Satish Kannan and Enbasekar Dinadayalane in the year 2015.

"We are excited to make DocsApp available to some of our most valued customers on the new MediBuddy platform. Our advanced technology and extensive network go a long way in helping us cover a larger portion of the population in terms of care solutions. quality healthcare," said Kanan, co-founder and CEO of MediBuddy.



Founded in 2000, Medibuddy provides 24/7 access to medical professionals through video calls, door-to-door medication delivery, in-home lab tests, mental health support, and other care services. integrated into its platform.

Just recently, in July, MediBuddy acquired Clinix, another online medical consultation platform that specializes in rural India. MediBuddy said the Clinix acquisition will help it expand its operations and expand indoor services in rural India.

The firm also raised 125 million dollars in its Series C funding round from Quadria Capital and Lightrock India in February this year.
