On June 1, the Delhi government permitted home delivery of Indian and foreign liquor for orders placed through a mobile application or via an online web portal.

Home delivery of liquor via mobile apps or websites will be permitted in the National Capital Territory (NCT) under the amended excise rules.

As per Delhi Excise (Amendment) Rules, 2021, published in the gazette notification on June 1, holders of the L-13 licenses will be allowed to deliver liquor at home.

However, such deliveries to residences will only be permitted if the order is placed through the mobile application or the online web portal. It will not be delivered to hostels, offices, and institutions as per the notification.

In May 2020, the Supreme Court asked states to consider allowing home delivery of liquor after noticing crowding outside liquor stores when lockdown restrictions were being eased.

Under previous rules, home delivery of alcohol was permitted in some way, but L-13 license holders could only do so for orders they received through email or fax.
