A day after the bloodiest border row with China in 45 years left at least 20 Indian soldiers dead, the massive Chinese-backed media biggie, Global Times, wrote an editorial to issue a veiled threat to its trans-Himalayan neighbor.
That China does not want a war with India is the nation's goodwill, not weakness, as the newspaper used the occasion to remind India, even as tempers continued to flare at several points along LAC including Galway, the valley that had erupted into bloody and murderous physical clashes between the two sides on the night of June 15 and 16.
Global Times summed up the unfolding situation thus: "The gap between China and India's strength is clear. China does not want to turn the border issues with India into a confrontation. This is the goodwill and restraint of China. But China is confident in the situation on the borders. It does not and will not create conflicts, but it is not afraid of conflicts. This policy is supported by morality and strength. We will not trade our bottom line with anyone."*
India's arrogance and recklessness are the reason for the consistent tensions along China-India borders and blame India for what it described as a permanent border position on the part of Delhi.
To drive home the point, the editorial referred to the 2017 Doklam standoff, "When Indian troops crossed the line and entered the Doklam area to clearly challenge China's territorial sovereignty, their craze was caused by such arrogance," it said.
The state-sponsored media house pointed two reasons why it believed India was becoming increasingly arrogant and reckless. According to his analysis, all of these provocations by India stem from "two wrong judgments": (a) India believes that China will not respond to relations or sour because of the increasing strategic pressure from the United States; (B) Some Indians mistakenly believed that their country's army was stronger than that of China.

It added these misconceptions have become influencing China's current policy in India and the "rationality of Indian opinion". He added that the other reason behind the wrong judgment of the elite in India is the fact that the United States has deceived the country with its Indo-Pacific strategy.
According to the newspaper, the hostile measures against China are generally praised in India, which has made the nation's mentality (towards China) unhealthy and dangerous.
He asked that China does not want to confront and want to resolve the border dispute peacefully, but how can it "sacrifice its sovereignty in exchange for peace and bow to the threats from New Delhi."
The editorial also put forward the Chinese side of the story about how things got to the point in the new zero points throughout the LAC. According to this version, India has built extensive infrastructure facilities along the border and forcibly built part of the facilities on the Chinese side of the LAC. He said the fighting erupted "when the Chinese soldiers tried to prevent their Indian counterparts from doing so."
It also sought to send out an assuring message to the Chinese public on this issue and urged them to trust the government and the People's Liberation Army. He said China will not allow any strategic trick to succeed and "will vigorously safeguard its territorial integrity and support national interests when it comes to border conflicts. China has the ability and wisdom to protect every inch of its land."
